March 29 - NYC - Patti Smith opened a show to raise funds for Japan's earthquake relief at Le poisson rouge on Bleecker Street.
Lou Reed and Antony Hegarty joined Yoko Ono (with Sean and Charlotte Kemp Muhl) at the Japan benefit at Le Poisson Rouge.
March 22 - NYC - The Hours, featuring Antony Genn and Martin Slatter, formerly of Joe Strummer's band the Mescaleros played at Mercury Lounge.
March 31 - NYC - Ron Delsener came to see comedian Mike Birbiglia's debut performance of "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend' at Greenwich House.
April 10 - NYC - DJ Mike Schnapp celebrated his birthday playing great mucic at the Circa Tabac bar on Watts Street, a place where smoking is still allowed.
April 21 - NYC - The incredible Joey Arias played a solo show at Town Hall, with a band and backup singers.
April 19 - NYC - Big Audio Dynamite reunion show at Roseland was a smashing success!
Matt Dillon came backstage to say hi to Don Letts and the band.
April 24 - NYC - Green Day played at the final show of American Idiot on Broadway.
At the American Idiot afterparty, there was a photographer who got a shot of Elizabeth and me with Billie Joe.
April 29 - NYC - Alejandro Escovedo & Jesse Malin shared the bill at a show in Port Washington as part of a short tour they did together.
May 10 - NYC - The 5 Blind Boys of Alabama were joined by The Oak Ridge Boys at City Winery.
May 12 - NYC - Interview Magazine editor Glenn O'Brien shows off his new book, 'How To Be A Man' at the Marc Jacobs Bookmarc store on Bleecker Street.
May 20 - NYC - I got in a photo with the Sic Fu*ks at the annual Joey Ramone Birthday benefit for Leukemia.
May 26 - San Francisco - I was in San Francisco to talk at the Gravity Free Conference and had a breakfast and dinner with Tré Cool and his lovley fiancée Dena.
May 28 - San Francisco - While I was in San Francisco I went to see Emily's Army recording a video to promote their great new debut CD 'Don't Be A Dick'.
June 4 - Hunter Mountain, NY - Hook Herrera backstage with Warren Haynes after the Gov't Mule set (with Hook guesting on harmonica) at the Mountain Jam festival at Hunter Mountain.
June 9 - NYC - The Sex Slaves, Eric and Dell, were back in New York at the Gramercy Theater before heading off to Los Angeles to record a new CD.
June 13 - NYC - Brian Wilson played for three days at the Highline Ballroom and was truly amazing.
June 18 - NYC - My son Kris Gruen showed off his songs with a band at Bowery Electric.
June 24 - NYC - Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl with their band, Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger were rocking a very modern sound at South Side Seaport.
June 29 - NYC - Fab Five Freddy showed new paintings at the 151 Gallery on the Bowery and Shepard Fairey came by to see them.
