My friend Bruno Blum, who has a very good French Reggae album out now as well as a new bio of Lou Reed, took us to see Minelle sing the old style French folk songs at the ancient Le Vieux Belleville restaurant. It is said that Edith Piaf herself as well as Maurice Chevalier and many other greats of French music history have performed here. It’s still a small, hard to find place in the hills overlooking Paris, with great food and a very friendly feeling.
